The Language of Color Lesson

In class we watched a lesson on the Language of Color. It was a very insightful video which taught me several new ways to view and manipulate color. One of the main things to know when dealing with color is the color wheel. The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. These colors are followed by it's secondary color of violet, green, and orange. Lastly, the final colors that complete the color wheels are the tertiary colors. The color wheel only have a grand total of 12 colors but we aren't restricted to these colors alone since we can adjust the lighting of those colors to create new types of colors. Another important part to know is that colors have 3 things going on which are the hue, saturation and value. Among these 3, the most important one of these is the value. The value is considered as important because without the value we will not have any color or form. Finally, the last thing I learned from the video was the importance of calibrating your monitor. Without calibrating your monitor, the image that is shown on the monitor might look differently when it is printed so having a consistent calibration between computers is key for designers.
